INFLATED/INFLATABLE BALLS

Inflated BallsInflated balls are synonymous with sports because of their wide usage. Sports games have become portable due to the inflatable balls. They are no more boring, but on the contrary add thrill & exitement to the game. These balls are available in different shape, size & multi range of colors, such as neon orange & green. They are generally made from a soft, easy-to-grip material which provides utmost safety & handling to the player.

What is an Inflated Ball?
An inflatable or inflated ball actually has an air tight flexible outer skin in its outer chamber. This gives a definition to the interior volume on getting inflated. Comparatively the inner chamber is heavier which is elastically movable. This thoughtful construction ultimately helps the ball to move freely in any direction whenever hit, thus, responding to the gravity through the inertial forces applied to the ball.

Constitution
An inflated ball is generally inflated with :
  • Air
  • Hydrogen
  • Helium
  • Nitrogen
Construction
There are essentially four processes involved in the construction of an inflated ball which are :
  • Covering, i.e. the surface is nowdays made of synthetic leather
  • Stitching, where the highest quality balls are generally polyster stitched
  • Lining Here, multiple layers of them are found between the covering & the bladder which are either of polyster or cotton bonded or they simply have a foam leather. This imparts an added strength, structure & bounce to the inflated ball
  • Bladder, meant for holding air, are either made from latex or butyl or polyurethane. Butyl bladders comparatively offer an excellent unity of contact quality as well as air retention. However, some ballseven make use of carbon latex-bladder because :
    • It gives proper bounce
    • It gives a soft feeling
    • Same angle of re-bouncing characteristics possible
Some balls even have butyl valves where air pumping is done perfectly so not to damage the valve.

Size & Shape
An inflated balls come in a varity of shape & size. Such as :
  • Spherical, either small or large depending upon the usage
  • Cylindrical or Ellipsoidal type Elongated
Apart from this, the size of the ball varies according to the usage, as from to giant.

Advantages
  • The inflatable balls require less space for storage when not inflated. It depends on the size & shape of the ball when filled with gas.
  • Elastically movable
  • High degree of bounce possible
  • Comfortable exhibition of unpredictable or erratic movements
  • Provides extending hand grip for improved play options
